Outside St Mary’s By the Sea in Port Douglas on a beautiful October afternoon, was a flower girl (carrying a bouquet of buttons),and a beautiful bride, about to go inside to be married.
And inside St Mary’s by the Sea, was a very happy man.
Tommy and Rachel are made for each other. They have been together forever already, and are perfect together.
Rachel looked absolutely stunning. Her Mum gave her away.
and Tonny was the celebrant!
They had a reading by Frosty, which he didn’t read any of, but wrote his own ode to Tommy and Rachel, and to marriage.
Shawn and Steve figured out which ring to give Tommy…
Tommy and Rachel aren’t your average couple. They didn’t want wedding photos at the beach, and the theme of the wedding was old world travel. So we decided on Port Douglas’ fantastic 2nd hand bookshop as a location…
And of course to Watergate because they do great Martinis
and because the bridal party matched the decor. Always handy.
And then to Stinger Park
Before heading back to the Port Douglas Sugar Wharf
Which was set up in a stunning fashion as usual by Port Douglas Catering, who also provided fantasic food & drink with great staff all night.
In keeping with the old travel theme, placecards were old postcards, and the flowers were old maps and music sheets and Tommy made them all.
There were typewriters for guests to type notes – and I did hear “Where’s the enter key?”
While Tommy was making the flowers, Rachel made the cake. She is an amazing pastry chef (but wouldn’t recommend to future brides to make their own cake).
Speeches were funny and tearful and touching – and funny.
And it was a great night. You two are amazing.
